At the close of the first quarter of 2016, Apple App Store and Google Play Store satisfaction ratings showed the Alinma Bank smart device application leading competing applications in Saudi Arabia.
Since the application was launched in mid-2013, Alinma has received overwhelmingly positive feedback with regard to its convenience, functionality and security. Even for individuals who are not already bank partners (customers), the application provides useful services such as the ability to locate the nearest branch or ATM location. This locator function can be used in conjunction with the phone’s camera to provide an augmented reality overlay, in real time, that helps guide the user to his or her desired Alinma location, with the added option of voice guidance. Alternatively, users can use the mapping function to reach their destination. The application also allows users to search for ATMs that have check deposit functionality. Additionally, users have access to up-to-date currency conversion rates. All of this is available without having to log in.
For Alinma partners, logging in to the application gives them access to full the full transactional and operational functionality that can be found on Alinma Internet, the bank’s website. Compatible with iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Blackberry operating systems, the Arabic/English application provides users with a convenient, 24/7, secure option to handle bill payments, perform domestic and international remittances, pay traffic fines and other Ministry of Interior fees, and to complete a broad range of other transactions and inquiries.
The comments and recommendations provided by users suggest that the application has been met with resoundimg approval, with the application receiving high marks for ease of use, speed and comprehensiveness. This level of approval has been reflected in the application’s popularity and the steady rate of increase in number of downloads of the application since its launch.
Speaking about the application, Mr. Ibrahim Al-Sayyari, the general manager of Information Technology and Operations at Alinma, said that the bank was always looking to be a leader in banking technology innovation as a way to better address the needs and aspirations of its partners. He also emphasized the fact that the application, along with Alinma’s website and ATMs, had been optimized for the special needs of sight-impaired partners, making Alinma the first bank in the Kingdom to provide full access to its services to blind partners, which Al-Sayyari noted was part of Alinma’s commitment to being a socially responsibly corporate entity.
